Purge paper

Water-soluble paper is a water-soluble paper that temporarily seals pipes during purging. It saves purge gas and prevents gas loss.

Physical-Chemical Working Principle

Water-soluble paper is made of water-soluble materials that start to dissolve on contact with water. This dissolving process forms a tight membrane that prevents gas loss.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Missing or poor application of water-soluble paper can lead to inadequate sealing. This results in gas loss and can lead to incomplete weld formation and cracks in the pipe.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Use water-soluble paper when preparing pipes for purging. Make sure the paper is placed cleanly on the pipe cut and contains no air bubbles. Let it dry before inserting the pipe into the purge fixture.
