Powered Air-Purifying Respirator System

A powered air-purifying respirator system supplies filtered fresh air into a welding helmet to prevent harmful aerosols and reduce breathing resistance.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The system uses a battery-powered blower that draws fresh air through a filter. The filter removes welding aerosols and other particles from the air. The cleaned air is then delivered into the welding helmet.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Welding aerosols can contain toxic substances that are harmful to health and irritate the respiratory tract. A powered air-purifying respirator system prevents inhalation of these aerosols and thus protects the welder's health.

Shop Practice & Instructions

Make sure the blower is regularly charged and the filter stays clean. Before use, check that the system functions correctly and the airflow rate is sufficient. Always use the helmet during welding to ensure optimal protection.
