Earplugs for Welding Operations

Earplugs are ergonomically shaped sound dampeners made of expanding foam that protect hearing during welding operations. They prevent noise levels and permanent ear damage.

Physicochemical mechanism of action

Earplugs consist of an expanding foam that expands upon contact with air or moisture. This process ensures a tight protective layer that absorbs sound waves and protects the ear.

Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding

During high noise levels during welding, hearing can be damaged. Permanent ear damage leads to irreversible hearing loss and can affect work ability. Earplugs prevent these risks by counteracting noise levels.

Workshop practice & instructions

Use earplugs for every welding operation. Insert them before starting welding and remove them only after completing the work. Make sure the plugs fit well and provide a tight protective layer. If needed, additional protective equipment such as earmuffs can be used.
