Aggressive deoxidizing addition
A deoxidizer like titanium or aluminum that quickly binds oxygen and removes oxides. Prevents porosity and increases strength.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Aggressive deoxidizing addition reacts with free oxygen in the molten pool, forming stable oxides and thus preventing porosity in the weld. This occurs through rapid chemical bonding of oxygen with the deoxidizer.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding
Adequate use of Aggressive deoxidizing addition prevents porosity and increases weld strength. Too little additive leads to porosity, impairing mechanical properties. Too much additive can cause fusion or distortion of the material.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Use the specified amount of Aggressive deoxidizing addition in the alloy. Ensure proper mixing and protect the melt from atmospheric oxygen. Increase the amount if needed to avoid porosity, but not so high as to cause fusion or distortion.
