Limiting Current for Droplet Transfer
The threshold value of the welding current above which the mechanical material transfer shifts from a coarse-droplet short arc to a fine-droplet spray arc.
The transition from globular to spray arc doesn't happen at a fixed value but depends on gas, wire diameter, and material. If you turn the current up too high, the droplet transfer becomes finer and the arc more aggressive – the structure becomes harder and more brittle. Too little current, on the other hand, gives you no clean fusion and you risk porosity. Set the torch so that the transfer is smooth and even, and follow the recommendation for your material. When in doubt, test on a scrap piece until it looks clean.
