Limiting Temperature for Weld Preheating
A computational criterion for establishing the minimum preheating temperature based on plate thickness, carbon equivalent, and hydrogen content.
Preheating isn't rocket science, but you need to know why you're doing it. It's about removing moisture and stress from the workpiece before you apply heat. If the material is too cold or wet, you'll get porosity in the weld or even cracks because the steel cools too quickly and becomes hard.
