Hastelloy powder metallurgy densification

An isotropic pressing and sintering process or hot isostatic pressing of pre-alloyed Hastelloy powders to produce pore-free, highly stressed structural components with a fine, homogeneous grain structure.

Hastelloy powder is pressed and then sintered to obtain a dense component. If the powder is not compacted cleanly or the temperature is not right, the part remains porous or warps. So you have to make sure the powder is filled evenly and the sintering process runs completely. Sintering too hot or too long makes the part brittle, sintering too cold doesn't hold it together. The goal is a homogeneous, pore-free structure that can be welded well afterwards.
