Hastelloy Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance
The material's resistance to cracking under the combined influence of tensile stresses and corrosive media, with nickel-molybdenum alloys offering exceptional performance in chemical processing plants.
Hastelloy is basically highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking, but only if the weld is clean and done properly. Before welding, you have to clean the material and filler metal spotlessly; any dirt or grease residue can cause trouble later. During welding, don't put in too much heat and keep the interpass temperature low, otherwise the microstructure will degrade and corrosion resistance is gone. If you weld the joint clean and with the right filler, the component remains crack-resistant.
