Hot-Wire TIG Welding
A TIG welding process where the filler wire is preheated via electrical resistance before entering the weld pool. This significantly increases deposition rate without increasing arc energy.
In hot wire TIG welding, the filler material is resistance-heated by a separate power source before entering the weld pool. This makes the wire melt faster and significantly increases the deposition rate without having to crank up the TIG current on the workpiece unnecessarily. Make sure the wire feed speed and heating power are matched – otherwise the wire will burn off or stay too cold and roll around in the pool. The advantage is a calmer, more controlled weld pool, especially on thicker plates and multi-pass welds.
