Hot Isostatic Diffusion Bonding
Combination of diffusion bonding and isostatic gas pressure for the homogeneous joining of complex geometries and dissimilar materials.
Hot isostatic diffusion welding is a process for solid-state joining of metals. You heat the parts and press them together with gas pressure, causing atoms to diffuse into each other and the parts to weld without melting. The whole process takes place in a pressure chamber where temperature and pressure are uniformly distributed over the component. It is important that the surfaces are clean and flat, otherwise you won't get a tight joint. If the parameters are not right, the microstructure can deteriorate or the parts can distort.
