High-alloy austenitic welding rod

A filler metal for welding stainless steels and dissimilar joints that builds a tough, crack-resistant austenitic structure. It effectively compensates for thermal stresses during cooling.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

A high-alloy austenitic welding rod contains high levels of silicon and molybdenum. These additions promote the formation of a stable austenitic structure that does not transform into crack-sensitive martensite during normal cooling. The austenitic structure is tough and has good scaling resistance.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Using a high-alloy austenitic welding rod prevents the formation of crack-sensitive martensitic structures, which is especially important for deep weld seams and under high stress conditions. It reduces susceptibility to hot cracking and increases the mechanical strength of the joint.

Workshop Practice & Procedures

Use a high-alloy austenitic welding rod when welding stainless steels and complex joints. Ensure controlled cooling to maintain the austenitic structure. Under high stress or deep weld seams, its use is especially recommended.
