High-Temperature Heat Treatment

Thermal process at temperatures exceeding 1150 degrees Celsius for homogenizing special materials and dissolving stable special carbides.

High-temperature heat treatment is a fine thing if you run it right. You dissolve the carbides that make the material tough and strong, and you get a homogeneous structure. But be careful: if you go too hot or too long, the grain coarsens and the part becomes brittle. You don't want that. So: bring it up to temperature cleanly in the furnace and keep an eye on the holding time. Too short does nothing, too long ruins everything. And you have to monitor the temperature the whole time, otherwise you'll have a nasty surprise when the part comes out of the furnace.
