Single-bevel with broad root face
Single-V bevel groove geometry is a groove shape where only one edge is beveled. It is suitable for T-joints or when there are construction constraints.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism
Single-V bevel groove geometry has a single-side bevel, so the weld is only made on one side. This reduces stress and improves the mechanical strength of the joint.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Welding on one side can lead to uneven cooling, which can cause stress and potential cracks. It is important to carefully control the cooling process.
Shop Practice & Instructions
For single-V bevel grooves, use a full penetration weld and ensure even cooling. The groove should be at least 2 mm deep to ensure a secure connection. For T-joints, it is advisable to weld from the root side if possible.
