Laser Hybrid Welding
An economical combination of laser beam and arc welding that unites the deep, narrow penetration of the laser with the robust gap-bridging capability of the arc.
Hybrid laser welding means you combine the focused laser beam with an arc. The laser provides deep penetration, the arc widens the weld and helps bridge gaps the laser alone can't handle. It's all about interplay. If you don't fine-tune the ratio between the two energy sources, you get an unstable melt pool that can lead to stresses and cracks. So you need to develop a feel for how much the laser and how much the arc contribute to keep the pool calm and even. In practice: first align and focus the laser properly, then switch on the arc and adjust the power so the weld looks full and even. If you notice undercuts or an unstable process, the ratio is off.
