Pulsed Arc Peak Current Duration
The time during which the high-current pulse is active to detach a droplet from the wire tip. Must be set precisely.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Pulse duration in pulsed arc determines the time the high-current pulse is active, detaching a droplet from the wire tip. This process is triggered by the electrolysis of the steel at the wire tip.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
A too short pulse duration can lead to insufficient material detachment and incomplete fusion. A too long pulse duration, on the other hand, can cause over-melting and excessive metal loss, weakening the weld.
Workshop Practice & Operating Instructions
Set the pulse duration precisely to detach one droplet per pulse. This is typically between 10 and 30 microseconds. Precise adjustment can be ensured using special measuring instruments such as an oscilloscope.
