Inconel Fusion Behavior

The melting and solidification behavior of nickel superalloys, characterized by a narrow solidification range and a high tendency toward microsegregation. This requires adapted thermal process management.

Inconel is a tough nickel-based alloy that doesn't behave like normal steel when welding. It's sensitive to too much heat and improper cooling. If you cool it too fast, you get cracks; if too slow, the structure becomes coarse and brittle. You have to dose the heat input cleanly and guide the melt calmly. Let the part cool slowly and evenly after welding, best cover it so no draft hits it. That way you avoid typical problems and the weld stays tight.
