Inconel High-Temperature Brazing

The joining of nickel-based superalloys under vacuum at temperatures above 1000 degrees Celsius using nickel- or precious metal-based fillers. This is mostly used in aerospace applications.

When brazing Inconel at high temperatures, you work in a vacuum, otherwise the material will oxidize away. You use a nickel- or precious metal-based filler metal that can withstand the high temperatures. The joint area gets really hot so that the filler flows cleanly and forms a homogeneous joint. If you don't get the vacuum conditions right or the temperature isn't right, the seam becomes porous and prone to cracking. Then it won't hold anything. So always work clean, then it'll be a solid thing.
