Inconel superalloy creep behavior
The time- and temperature-dependent plastic deformation of nickel-base materials under constant mechanical tensile stress in the maximum temperature range.
Inconel creeps under sustained load and high temperature – meaning the material slowly deforms plastically when stressed long enough. When welding, you need to make sure you don't introduce extra stresses into the part, otherwise you promote cracking or premature wear. Keep the heat input low and controlled, and don't let the part cool down too quickly after welding. If you post-weld treat the seam, first check whether the material can handle it, otherwise you'll do more harm than good.
