Induction Pressure Welding
A process where cross-sections to be joined are heated via induction and subsequently mechanically upset. It finds widespread application in the automated mass production of automotive components.
In induction welding, you heat the components contactlessly in the magnetic field and then forge them together. The heat is generated directly in the workpiece, so heating is fast and targeted. It is important that the contact surfaces are clean and dry, otherwise you won't get a clean bond. After forging, the part must cool slowly so that the structure doesn't become hard and crack-prone. If you cool too quickly, the material can become glass-hard and break.
