Inhibited Acid

Inhibited acid is an acidic solution with special additives that prevent metal dissolution. The inhibitors adsorb on the surface and block active reaction sites.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Inhibited acid contains special chemical substances that act as inhibitors. These inhibitors adsorb on the metal surface and block active electrochemical reaction sites that could lead to corrosion.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Using inhibited acid is especially important in weld preparation. It prevents metal dissolution and protects the surface from corrosion, resulting in a cleaner and more stable weld. Without inhibitors, metal dissolution can lead to incomplete welds or corrosion.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Use inhibited acids during weld preparation to prevent metal dissolution. Make sure the inhibitors adsorb correctly on the surface and block reaction sites. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning steps to achieve optimal results.
