Corrosion Inhibitor Addition

Corrosion Inhibitor addition is adding chemical substances to a corrosive medium to prevent corrosion on plant components.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

Chemical inhibitors bind to the surface of metals and prevent electrolytes from reacting with the metal. This interrupts the corrosion process at the anodes and cathodes.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Inhibitors protect weld areas from corrosion, which extends the service life of components. However, wrong Corrosion Inhibitor selection or dosage can lead to insufficient protection or even further corrosion.

Workshop Practice & Action Guidelines

Use inhibitors at the correct concentration and according to the manufacturer's instructions. Regularly check the effectiveness of the Corrosion Inhibitor and adjust the dosage if necessary.
