Cold Metal Transfer Welding control
A modified shielding gas welding process with mechanical wire retraction movement that drastically reduces thermal stress through brief current interruptions.
Cold Metal Transfer Welding (CMT) is a process where the wire is mechanically withdrawn while the current is briefly interrupted. This makes the material drop in a controlled way into the weld, without much heat going into the workpiece. It's ideal for thin sheets and bridging gaps because you get hardly any distortion. Make sure wire feed and retraction are well coordinated. If not, it spatters or the weld is not properly filled. With the right shielding gas and clean wire, you avoid pores.
