Cold pressure line bonding
Cold press line connection is a joining process for ductile non-ferrous metals at room temperature through mechanical pressure without heating.
Physico-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Cold press line connections join materials through direct mechanical pressure, causing the surfaces of the parts to be joined to come into contact and press against each other. This leads to the formation of a metallurgical bond without the addition of thermal energy.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
This process is particularly suitable for materials that tend to deform or distort excessively at elevated temperatures. It reduces the risk of stress formation and distortion since no thermal expansion occurs. However, insufficient pressure or incorrect alignment of parts can lead to poor joints.
Workshop Practice & Operating Instructions
Use a cold press machine with sufficient pressure for cold press line connections. Ensure that the parts to be joined are clean and smooth. The pressing time and force must be precisely controlled to achieve a homogeneous joint. For materials such as copper or aluminum, this is an effective joining method.
