Catalytic Flux Decomposition
Thermal breakdown of the flux due to overheating, causing its protective and cleaning function to be lost. This leads to massive oxidic inclusions.
If the flux starts to decompose, you lose the shielding of the weld zone and get slag inclusions in the weld. This happens when you run the temperature too high or store the flux improperly. Make sure you don't exceed the working temperature specified by the manufacturer and keep the flux dry and clean. At the first signs of blistering or smoke, you must reduce the heat input, otherwise the weld will become brittle.
