Collision Detection Algorithm

A collision detection algorithm is a software system that detects unexpected mechanical resistance via motor currents and stops the robot. This prevents expensive damage to the torch and fixture.

Physico-Chemical Working Principle

The algorithm measures current changes in the robot's motors. A sudden increase in current may indicate a collision or mechanical resistance.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

In the welding workshop, unexpected obstacles can occur that could cause damage. The algorithm prevents this by reacting quickly and stopping the robot.

Workshop Practice & Action Instructions

Install the collision detection algorithm in the robot controller. Set the sensitivity so that it reacts only to truly dangerous situations. Regularly test the system with various obstacles to ensure it works correctly.
