Contact Tip

A wearing part made of copper alloys in GMAW processes that transfers the welding current directly to the passing consumable wire.

The contact tip carries the welding current directly to the wire. If it's worn or installed wrong, the arc burns erratically and the weld gets dirty. You'll also notice the wire sticking in the tip or the tip running hot. Replace it in time to keep the current transfer clean and avoid porosity in the weld.
