Contact tip

The contact tube conducts the welding current from the MIG/MAG torch to the wire and ensures a stable electrical connection.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The contact tube consists of a copper tube that conducts the electrical current from the torch to the welding wire. It ensures minimal voltage drop and prevents loss of current.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

A defective or damaged contact tube can lead to current interruptions, irregular wire feed, and poor welding results. It increases the likelihood of hot cracks and reduces the lifespan of the welding equipment.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Ensure that the contact tube is clean and undamaged. Check regularly for corrosion or distortion. If necessary, replace the contact tube with a new one to ensure optimal current conductivity.
