Continuous Precipitation

Uniform formation of fine particles throughout the grain interior of a supersaturated matrix, resulting in a homogeneous increase in hardness without local softening zones.

When welding, the cooling rate matters. If you cool too fast, the structure gets hard and can crack. If you cool too slowly, the grain coarsens and the material loses toughness. You need to get a feel for it and choose the heat input so that the structure in the weld area is right. Best to keep the interpass temperature within limits and don't let the weld cool down when welding multi-pass.
