Grain Growth Corrosion Inhibitor

Fine carbides, nitrides, or carbonitrides in steel that mechanically block the uncontrolled coarsening of austenite grains at high annealing temperatures.

Fine carbides and nitrides in steel act as a barrier against grain growth. During welding, especially with high heat input, the grain can otherwise become coarse and the steel loses toughness. The fine particles keep the structure fine and ensure that the mechanical properties remain good. Make sure the heat input is not too high and, if necessary, choose a stabilized steel, then the grain stays under control.
