Corrosion Monitoring

Corrosion monitoring is the continuous monitoring of industrial plants for corrosion damage. It captures real-time data on the corrosion rate and prevents unforeseen material damage.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Corrosion is a chemical process where metals react with surrounding materials. This leads to a change in the metal structure and the formation of corrosion products. Corrosion monitoring measures these reactions continuously.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Corrosion can cause material wear, cracks, and other mechanical problems. Without monitoring, such damage can go undetected and shorten the service life of equipment. Corrosion monitoring helps identify these risks early and avoid them.

Workshop Practice & Action Points

Use corrosion probes or other measuring devices for continuous monitoring. Set when and how often the data should be checked. Make sure the sensors are installed correctly and the devices are calibrated regularly. If you notice any anomalies in the measured data, take corrective action immediately.
