Deep Cryogenic Treatment

Subsequent cooling process at extremely low temperatures (below -150 °C) to completely transform remaining retained austenite into martensite. This increases wear resistance and dimensional stability of precision tools.

You do cryo treatment after hardening when you want to deliberately cool the workpiece way down. This transforms retained austenite into martensite, making the material harder and more wear-resistant. But be careful: if you mess it up, you'll get cracks or the part becomes brittle.
