Body-centered cubic crystal lattice

A crystal system where atoms are positioned at the corners and the center of the cube, typical for ferritic steels at room temperature. This lattice structure provides a characteristic combination of strength and limited ductility at low temperatures.

The body-centered cubic lattice is typical for ferritic steels. When welding, it's all about controlling the cooling. If you cool the weld too fast, the material becomes hard and brittle, and cracks can form. So let the weld cool slowly and don't cool it with water or drafts. This keeps the structure stable and you avoid stresses and cracks.
