Spheroidite Morphology
A microstructural form where cementite particles exist in globular shapes within a ferrite matrix, achieved by prolonged annealing below the A1 temperature. This structure minimizes hardness and maximizes ductility.
Spheroidized cementite forms when you cool the steel slowly below the A1 temperature. Then the cementite takes on a round shape and distributes evenly in the ferrite – that makes the material tough and easy to form. If you cool too fast during welding, you get hard martensite, which breaks more easily and can cause cracks. So: let it cool slowly after welding, then the structure stays soft and workable.
