Copper-Aluminum Permanent Magnet Alloy
A specialized copper material with aluminum additions that develops ferromagnetic properties through spinodal decomposition.
Copper and aluminum are a difficult pair in the welding process. The alloy is interesting, but welding causes trouble quickly due to different melting points and the tendency to brittle phases. You have to keep the heat input under control, otherwise you'll get cracks or porous welds. Watch out not to overheat and control the cooling, then the structure stays stable. Use a filler that matches the mix, and clean work is a must, otherwise it will separate again.
