Copper-Aluminum Cast Bronze

High-strength copper alloy with aluminum as the main alloying element, exhibiting excellent resistance to cavitation through complex precipitations. It is preferentially used for marine propellers.

Copper-aluminum bronze is a tough material that provides good protection against cavitation and seawater corrosion. When welding, you have to be careful that the alloy doesn't overheat, otherwise the structure becomes brittle and corrosion resistance suffers. Best to weld it with TIG and argon, then you get a clean, pore-free seam. Before welding, clean the material and prepare the joint well; aluminum oxides on the surface are the classic cause of defects. After welding, let it cool slowly and check the weld for cracks, then the part will hold.
