Copper-Beryllium Precipitation Hardening

Heat treatment process to increase the strength of copper alloys through the controlled formation of finest beryllium-rich precipitates within the crystal lattice.

Copper beryllium can be hardened by a targeted heat treatment. Fine particles form in the structure that make the material significantly stronger. When welding, you have to be careful: if the alloy gets too hot or is treated incorrectly, you lose strength and can get porosity. The right temperature and time are crucial, and afterwards the part must cool in a controlled way so the structure becomes clean. If you don't know the parameters for sure, look them up in the data sheets or ask the foreman.
