Copper-Beryllium Precipitation Kinetics

The time- and temperature-dependent process of Guinier-Preston zone formation in CuBe alloys to achieve maximum hardness.

CuBe alloys harden through a heat treatment where fine precipitates form. When welding, don't push the heat input too high, otherwise you get overaging and the material softens. Just as bad is cooling too fast; then hardening stays incomplete. Keep cooling even and controlled, then the structure stays stable and you avoid cracks. If unsure, ask first before welding the part.
