Copper-Manganese Damping Alloy
A material featuring high internal friction for effective vibration and acoustic damping in mechanical structures.
Copper-manganese alloys dampen vibrations well because the crystal structure rearranges during deformation, converting energy into heat. When welding, you must be careful not to put in too much heat, otherwise you lose this damping property. The material is also sensitive if it stays hot for too long. So keep heat input as low as possible and don't let it anneal unnecessarily. Best to weld with a process that introduces little heat into the component.
