Copper-Nickel Pitting Resistance
High resistance to localized corrosion attacks in chloride-containing waters, favored by homogeneous solid solution formation.
Copper-nickel is basically a straightforward material as long as you work clean. The alloy is readily weldable, but you have to be careful not to overheat it. If you put in too much heat, you'll have problems with corrosion resistance, especially in seawater. It's important that the base material and filler are clean and free of grease. Weld with as little heat input as possible and let the part cool slowly. Too rapid cooling or too hot post-heating will ruin the structure, and in the worst case the part will rust. Keep the interpass temperature low and you're good.
