Copper-Nickel-Tin Spring Alloy

Age-hardenable copper alloy in which nanoscale modifications are created through spinodal decomposition, ensuring high spring force combined with good electrical conductivity. It is used in connectors.

The alloy is a copper-nickel-tin spring alloy that gets its strength through a special heat treatment. When welding, you have to be careful not to put too much heat in, otherwise you lose the spring effect and the material becomes soft. Weld as cool and controlled as possible, preferably with argon or a shielded atmosphere, so the weld stays clean and no scaling forms. After welding, let it cool slowly, then the spring force remains more or less preserved.
