Copper Welding Wire Surface Coating
A thin copper coating on solid wires that reduces contact resistance and minimizes feed resistance.
Physikalisch-chemischer Wirkmechanismus
Copper welding wire surface finish consists of a thin copper coating on the solid wire. This coating improves electrical conductivity and reduces contact resistance between wires in the welding hose package.
Metallurgical relevance & risks when welding
Low contact resistance leads to better electrical results and increases the efficiency of the welding process. Without or with too thin a copper coating, feed resistance can rise, leading to contact wear and thus loss of electrical contact and lower welding performance.
Workshop practice & instructions
Use copper welding wire surface finish with a coating thickness of at least 0.1 mm. Make sure the coating is clean and undamaged. If welding performance issues occur, check the contact resistance and the integrity of the copper coating.
