Copper Coated Welding Wire
A copper welding wire coating consists of a thin electroplated copper layer on solid wires, improving electrical contact and reducing feed resistance.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
A copper welding wire coating is formed by electroplating solid wire with copper. This process deposits a thin, homogeneous copper layer on the wire surface, which minimizes electrical resistance and improves the contact area.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks during Welding
The copper coating increases the toughness and corrosion resistance of the weld. It also reduces feeding resistance, leading to better control of the welding process. However, a missing or defective coating can cause poor electrical connections and increased resistance, making welding more difficult.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Make sure the wire is coated and the copper layer is not damaged. If you have problems with the coating, you can recoat the wire or use an alternative solution like a copper wire. Pay attention to correct welding parameters and continuously check the electrical connection.
