Copper-Silver Precipitation
Formation of fine silver particles in copper-based contacts that maintain electrical conductivity while elevating the softening temperature under thermal stress.
Copper-silver is a classic contact material. When welding, it's important to manage the heat so that the silver stays finely distributed in the copper and doesn't clump up coarsely. If you heat the parts too hot or for too long, the structure becomes soft and the contacts won't hold mechanically anymore. So keep the exposure time short and weld with focused heat, then the alloy stays hard and conductive.
