Silicon bronze

A copper-based wrought or cast alloy containing silicon as the primary alloying element, featuring favorable flow and welding characteristics. It is frequently utilized for artistic casting and corrosion-resistant fasteners.

Copper-silicon alloys are best welded with TIG; the silicon makes the melt more fluid and improves flow. Be careful not to overheat the weld, otherwise the structure becomes brittle and hot cracking can occur. Keep the heat input even and let the weld cool slowly, then it will be clean.
