Copper-Tellurium Alloy

Copper-tellurium alloy consists of copper and tellurium. It is used in electronics because of its high conductivity. If the tellurium content is too high, the material can become brittle.

Copper-tellurium is a special brass that is mainly suitable for turned parts due to its good machinability. When welding, you have to be careful: the tellurium content makes the material hot-cracking. If you have to weld the alloy, only do so with adjusted heat input and suitable filler, otherwise the weld will crack again. For practical purposes: if possible, avoid welding and rather screw or rivet the parts together.
