Copper-Zinc Beta Phase

A body-centered cubic brass structure that occurs at higher zinc contents and exhibits high formability at elevated temperatures. It enables the hot forming of complex semi-finished products.

The beta phase in brass is a microstructural state that occurs at higher zinc content and is characterized by good formability. When welding brass, you have to be careful not to heat the material too much or for too long. If you let the part get too hot, this phase can form unfavorably and the weld becomes brittle or cracked. So keep the heat input as low as possible and work quickly, then the structure remains stable and the weld holds.
