Copper-Zinc Beta Phase Transformation Temperature
The critical thermal threshold at which the disordered solid solution in brass alloys transforms into an ordered body-centered cubic structure, significantly influencing the hot workability of the material.
Brass has a phase that changes structure when heated. This makes the material well formable in a certain temperature range, but also sensitive. When welding, you have to be careful not to let the material get too hot, otherwise the structure becomes coarse and brittle. If you control the heat well and guide the weld seam cleanly, the brass remains stable and crack-free.
