Short arc

A low-power arc transfer mode where the filler wire drops into the weld pool via repeated short circuits. It is ideal for thin sheets and out-of-position welding due to low heat input.

In short-arc welding, the filler metal transfers through short, controlled short circuits. This keeps heat input low, making the process ideal for thin sheets and positional welding. Be careful not to use too much current – otherwise the melt becomes too fluid and you get a poor weld. Keep the arc short and controlled, then the weld will be clean and low in porosity.
