Lanthanated Tungsten Electrode

Lanthanum-doped electrode: A tungsten electrode with lanthanum oxide content, suitable for DC and AC. It features excellent ignition properties and long service life.

Physico-chemical mechanism of action

Lanthanum-doped electrodes contain lanthanum oxide, which improves the electrode surface. This leads to better weld metal distribution and increases arc ignition performance.

Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding

These electrodes produce a finer weld structure, resulting in a stronger and more ductile weld metal. However, incorrect doping can cause uneven weld metal distribution or excessive arc ignition, which can lead to porosity or hot cracking.

Workshop practice & instructions

Use lanthanum-doped electrodes for DC and AC welding. Make sure the doping is correct to ensure an optimal weld structure. If you run into problems with porosity or hot cracking, check the doping and the welding parameters.
