Lanthanated Tungsten Electrode

Lanthanum-doped tungsten electrode: A radiation-free electrode with outstanding arc-starting and long life, suitable for DC and AC.

Physicochemical mechanism of action

Lanthanum-doped tungsten electrodes contain lanthanum additives that increase their electrolytic activity. This results in improved ignition and a longer functional range of the electrode.

Metallurgical relevance & risks during welding

These electrodes reduce ignition time and increase the efficiency of arc welding. They avoid radiation burns and offer higher safety in the workshop. Improper handling can, however, lead to a short service life or irregular ignition processes.

Workshop practice & instructions

Use lanthanum-doped tungsten electrodes for arc welding for optimal performance. Make sure to maintain the electrode correctly and replace it regularly to maximize its service life. The ignition processes should occur within 0.5 to 1 seconds.
